Bringing the authentic taste of Scottish tablet to the world.
A taste of Scotland.
In Scotland, home made tablet is a rare treat, my Ma would make it once every couple of years and in my teenage years I decided that I would try and make it myself so I could eat it any time I wanted.
I asked my Ma for the recipe and so it began, my years of torture. Tablet is extremely difficult to make, you can easily make it, all you are doing is boiling sugar, milk and butter, but getting the texture right is a nightmare. Through years of teaching from my Ma, I eventually got to the point where I could consistently make it to my liking. The tablet was so good I started selling it at Russell’s Fruit and Veg store in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow University and the BBC in Glasgow, demand was so high I could barely keep up, I had my regular job and I would be home making tablet at night until 1AM and wake up at 5AM to cut, weigh, bag and deliver the tablet before getting to work at 8AM. But I did have fun making it and I started developing new flavors, at one point I was making 23 different flavors! This is now my 28th year making tablet and I will be offering it in 2 of my favorite flavors - Vanilla and Coconut.

Why the USA?
I moved to Fremont, California in 1996 from Ruchazie in Glasgow’s East End, see map above. I have a sister in Massachusetts and the rest of my immediate family is in their 41st year in Ruchazie,.we moved from Easterhouse in 1977. Click this link to see a few photos of Ruchazie, where I grew up and my family still live.
I came to the USA in the summer of 1995 for a 3 month vacation, 1 month to visit my sister in Massachusetts and the other 2 months I toured much of the USA, next thing I know I met my future wife and we spent many thousands of $’s & £’s on phone calls and postage stamps to maintain our long distance relationship. Guess what? It worked! I have now been married for 20 years and have two boys, 13 and 8 years old.
